Lecture: Refugee Law - Case Study (by Elsza Ayu Fitrishiana, UNCHR officer)

March 13th, 2014 - the second session of the Refugee Law Series of the Institute for Human Rights was held in the reference room of the Research Activity Building. The speaker was Elsza Ayu Fitrishiana, officer of the UNHCR Office in  China . Associate Prof. Zhang and all of the first-year graduates were in attendance. The topic of the case was "Definition of Refugees Status", designed to guide students to define refugees and consolidate their understanding of the elements of the definition "refugee". Through the discussion, the students gained a good command of some humanitarianism principles, including "the benefit of doubt" and "well-founded fear". The case study course, combining theories and practices, benefited the students greatly.
