In the afternoon of April 2, 2018, Liu Huawen, a researcher from the Institute of International Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was invited to the Institute for Human Rights of China University of Political Science and Law and exchanged views with the teachers and students of the Institute on the issue of "promoting win-win cooperation in the field of human rights." Associate Professor Sun Meng and Associate Professor Xu Shuang and all graduate students of Grade 2017 attended the lecture.

First of all, Prof. Liu Huawen introduced the concept of “a community with a shared future for mankind” and the new heights it reached afterwards. At the domestic level, the “a community with a shared future for mankind " was highlighted in the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and formally entered into the constitution in 2018. At the international level, this resolution was adopted at the UN General Assembly.

Secondly, Prof. Liu Huawen addressed that “a community with a shared future for mankind” is the inheritance and development of the “Five Principles of Fair Coexistence” put forward by China in the 1950s, and it conforms to the philosophy of “harmony” and the “big picture concept” that China emphasizes. Finally, Professor Liu Huawen believes that in the context of “human rights mainstreaming” and the significant increase in China’s economic power, leading the global human rights governance is a due meaning for China. China needs to “speak” in the human rights field to dispel the international community’s concerns about China’s rapid development and make “more benefits” for more people.

Afterwards, students questioned the issue of “building a community with a shared future for mankind” on the domestic and international community, and heard answers from Professor Liu Huawen. In the end, Prof. Liu Huawen took a group photo with everyone and the lecture ended successfully.
