November 16th, 2013 - At 9:00 a.m., all the members of the National Base for Human Rights Education and Training Research Project, under the Institute for Human Rights (IHR) of CUPL, participated in the first working conference at the Wofo Hotel, Beijing. The members present included Professor ZHANG Wei, the leader of the project, and the co-director of the IHR, Mr. CHEN Yichao; as well as an officer of the Sub-Committee of Legislative Affairs of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Miss YU Dan, a staff member of the Beijing Hyundai Motor Corporation, Miss LI Ruoyu, the academic editor of IHR, Mr. NIU Ming, the executive of IHR, and six postgraduates.
The research project is concerned with establishing China's National Human Rights Institution. All the members of the research group had already finished the initial preparation prior to November 2013. The conference was chaired by editor LI Ruoyu and consisted of four stages: (a) basic introduction to the project; (b) exchanging opinions on the difficulties found during the preparation and discussing the solutions; (c) dividing the members into four sub-groups and drawing up a working-plan for the next phase; and (d) summarizing the conference's achievements.
