Dr. Chen’s report on the fifth amendment to the Constitution of China

On March 21, 2018, doctoral candidate Chen Yichao, who study at Institute for Human Rights in China University of Political Science and Law, shared his participation experience in the Constitution amending with his research activities in Legal Work Committee of the NPC Standing Committee. This meeting was hold at B210 meeting room in Research Activities Building in Xueyuan road campus for the class of 2017 graduate students. The theme of the wonderful lecture was “the procedure, content and significance of the fifth constitutional amendment”.Professor Zhang Wei, Co-director of Institute for Human Rights chaired the meeting, and Professor Xu Shuang participated in the meeting.

 


First of all, Professor Zhang Wei extended a warm welcome to Dr. Chen and introduced Chen’s experience in studying and participating in the legislative work. Secondly, Dr. Chen also highlighted the specific procedures of the constitutional amendment and the CPC central committee’s proposal to amend the constitution is crucial. The students then discussed the hot issues in the constitution amendment. Dr. Chen also answered questions about the confusion formed by the students. At the same time, Dr. Chen encouraged the students to believe in the constitution, read the constitution, and understand the constitution in a systematic way. In the end, combining with her own research and experience, professor Xu Shuang summarized the specific contents of the lecture. The teachers and students of the meeting took a group photo together, and the lecture was successfully concluded.
