On the morning of December 11, 2017 and morning of the 12th, Mr. Sune Skadegaard Thorsen, founder of the Global Center for Corporate Social Responsibility, visited institute for huan rights and conducted a lecture entitled "The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights" for graduate students.
On the morning of the 11th, Mr. Thorsen firstly briefed on the UN Guiding Principles and Compliance Checklist to give us an initial understanding of corporate social responsibility. Next, Mr. Thorsen introduced the public agencies and companies and elaborated on the protection of human rights The responsibility of the difference; and based on these contents accurately define the meaning of corporate social responsibility. Then, by contrasting the 2008 Lurgus framework with the 2011 UN Guiding Principles, the three components required by the new Guiding Principles for corporate responsibility to respect human rights were identified. Finally, I answered the questions raised by classmates and Pro.Zhang Wei.
On the morning of the 12th, Mr. Sune Skadegaard Thorsen introduced corporate social responsibility and the upstream supply chain management of enterprises to ensure that enterprises use their influence to realize their human rights in business cooperation. Next, Mr. Thorsen gave a detailed account of the UN Guiding Principles on corporate social responsibility including policy commitments, respect for responsibility, remedies and how to respect and guarantee human rights in the enterprise's supply chain. Finally, Mr. Thorsen showed the case of Bangladesh and used the vivid case to make the students understand more deeply the importance of using the influence of the enterprise in the commercial supply chain to realize the respect and guarantee of human rights.
Through two days of lectures, students have a new understanding and understanding of "business and human rights."
