President Huang pointed out in his speech that the purpose of hosting the annual conference is to summarize the work of Institute for Human Rights in the year of 2012, and to plan for the work arrangement for 2013. As members of institute, every adjunct professor and associate professor has contributed greatly to the development of the Institute. While expressing his heartfelt thanks, President Huang encouraged the adjunct professors to summarize and evaluate the work from last year, and as also to actively make academic plans for the future.

Professor Zhang Wei, executive vice president of the Institute for Human Rights, introduced the work summary of Human Rights Institute of 2012 and the working draft of 2013. Participants then discussed around the main themes pulled from Professor Zhang’s report. Participants spoke highly of the achievements that Human Rights Institute has made over the past years and put forward many constructive suggestions from the perspective of institute’s future development direction, development model, scientific research, talent cultivation, discipline construction, strengthening the contact and cooperation with practice, and expanding its influence.

Mr. Chen ShiQiu, vice-chairman of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, made his closing speech that great achievements have been made by the Human Rights Institute and that the institute still has a long way to go but with a bright future. He thought that the Human rights Institute has accomplished many outstanding achievements. Although a general foundation for the Human Rights framework has been achieved, the awareness for human rights is still quite weak, leaving future tasks difficult yet important. With the rising attention on a national level, there are great hopes in this professional field. As the country's first human rights education and training center, China University of Political Science and Law should summarize the successful experiences and set a good example for establishing more bases in the future.

The annual conference concluded in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
