Event: President of the European Commission Visits CUPL

 

 

November 21st, 2013 - Jose Manuel Durao Barroso, President of the European Commission, visited CUPL's Xueyuan Lu Campus and met with Prof. HUANGJin, CUPL President, Mr. ZHANG Fusen, the Former Minister of the Ministry ofJustice and the current Chinese Co-Chair of theJointManagerial Committee (JMC) of the China-EUSchool of Law (CESL), Prof. ZHU Yong, CUPL Vice President, and Prof. ZHANG Wei,Co-Director of the Institute for Human Rights. Mr. DuraoBarroso also met with the professors andstudents of CUPL. Prof. LIU Fei, Chinese Co-Dean of CESL hosted the ceremony.

 

During the meeting, CUPL students discussed issues concerning thebilateral investment treaty, the prospects of CESL, andnational reformation openly with Mr. Barosso. As arepresentative of CUPL students, Yan Zihan, athirdyear master’s student from theInstitute for Human Rights, gave a warm welcome toMr. Barroso and inquired how his academic and work experience couldprovide suggestions to help students’ future careers. Mr. Barroso was happy to provide hisinput to answer such questions. He spoke highly of the rapid development of China  and expressed his eagerness to continuously cooperate with  China .
