The speech addressed rules for lawyers in five aspects.

Rule one says “love your work and love the law”. Mr. Lehman emphasized the importance of having passion for work and law.

Rule two says “the practice of law never ends”. For this rule, Mr. Lehman explained that, as a lawyer, one should never assume to have perfect skills. The process of learning and improving should never be ended. Besides, he noted that its is also very important to understand your audience and to build trust. He also gave several professional tips, such as us addressing people with their full name during a conversation.

Rule three, according to Mr. Lehman, states that interpersonal relationships are essential in the law career. To be a lawyer, one needs to be friendly and professional in his work. He highly recommended “LinkedIn” website and mobile application to the students to use as a platform for building their professional interpersonal network.

The last rule says “much of the law is rhetoric”. This refres to the imprtance of being persuasive arguers. In other words, lawyers must know how to form their own opinions and then persuade others their opinion is the best option.

In the final part, Mr. Lehman shared some practical experience with the students. For instance, he suggested that the students take an effort to get access to some “big name” schools or companies. Furthermore, it is wise for students to choose further education in a different culture.

Mr. Lehman’s speech inspired all students to be confident and proud of themselves. His life experience encouraged students to work harder and pursue great careers in their future.
