US Embassy Diplomat Ms. Rene Gutel Visited the Institute For Human Rights

October 13, 2016, Rene Gutel, the US embassy diplomat visited the Institute for Human Rights of CUPL, shared her experiences as a journalist and gave a brief intruduction of the US general election. Prof. Wei ZHANG and first-year Master Students attended the lecture.

After the self-introduction, Ms. Rene Gutel simply talked about the development and movement of her career and the main work contents of her current job-the US embassy diplomat. She subsequently distributed the prepared materials of two cases which raised her concerns when she was a journalist. Following this the substantive course began.

The course was divided into two phases. The first one was based on the two cases which were both related to human rights. During that time the students, as well as Prof. Wei ZHANG, expressed their opinions and put forward confusions. Ms. Rene Gutel made responses respectively. The other phase was Q&A time, the students  communicated with Ms. Rene Gutel over the issues that they were interested, such as US general election, gun problems, juvenile protection and some questions about western media.

The lecture ended successfully and the students benefited a lot from it. Thanks so much for Ms. Rene Gutels wonderful lecture and the students are all looking forward to her next coming.
