On November 1-2, 2024, the “2024 Teachers' Seminar on Business and Human Rights”, jointly organized by the Institution for Human Rights of the China University of Political Science and Law and the Human Rights Rule of Law Research Center of Guangdong University of Technology, and funded by the Norwegian Institute of Human Rights of Oslo University, was successfully held at Guangdong University of Technology. Experts and scholars from many universities across China gathered together to conduct in-depth exchanges and learning on the theme of “business and human rights”, and jointly discussed how to promote the theoretical research and practical development of business and human rights in China.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Wen Wen, Secretary General of the Human Rights Law Research Society of Guangzhou Law Society, attended by Ms. Wang Yi, Senior Advisor of the Norwegian Institute of Human Rights of Oslo University. Prof. Qian Jinyu, Executive Deputy Director of the Human Rights Rule of Law Research Center of Guangdong University of Technology, delivered an enthusiastic opening speech.
The seminar arranged four thematic courses, covering important topics such as international human rights law, corporate human rights responsibilities, international agenda and global supply chains, and explored cutting-edge issues in the field of business and human rights. The seminar not only provided theoretical inspiration for the participating scholars, but also promoted in-depth exchanges between academia and practice, and provided valuable intellectual support for promoting interdisciplinary research and policy innovation in the field of business and human rights in China.
