??September 17, 2014 - The Seventh Forum on Human Rights started its work in Beijing. The theme of the forum was defined as "Chinese Dream", with focus on the new progress in China’s human rights.
The two-day Forum attracted more than one hundred participants, including senior advisers from the UN, experts, scholars and representatives of foreign embassies in China. Prof. Wei Zhang, Co-Director, Associate Professor of the Institute for Human Rights at CUPL, was invited to attend the forum.??
??At the opening ceremony, Luo Haocai, Chairman of the China Foundation for Human Rights Development, mentioned that "the Chinese dream is a social goal and vision containing the concepts, claims and values of human rights." He highlighted the accomplishments achieved in the Chinese democratic legal system in 2013.??
??Cai Mingzhao, Minister of the State Council Information Office, Huang Mengfu, chairman of the China Foundation for Human Rights Development, and more than 10 Chinese and foreign representatives made presentations about judicial system, human rights protection,anti-corruption, etc.?
??The forum is co-organized by the China Society for Human RightsStudies, the largest human rights academic group in China, and the China Foundation for Human Rights Development, a major civil group.??
??The annual event took place for the first time in 2008 and has been subsequently held on an annual basis. It has grown to become a key platform for human rights exchanges among different countries, ethnicities and cultures. It is expected to promote the continual research in the human rights field.??
