Course: Human Rights Law (by Prof. Gudmundur)

October 23 - 30, 2014 -  Prof. Gudmundur Alfredsson, special-term Professor at CUPL, taught a course to the first-year master's students of human rights law. In the meantime, Prof. Gudmundur was also engaged in a research work conducted in cooperation with the professors and students of the Institute for Human Rights.


 

In his lectures, Prof. Gudmundur introduced the basic knowledge of the human rights law, with the focus to the sources of the international law (treaties, customs and legal principles). He clarified the work of the United Nations human rights mechanism and its effect on people’s daily life. Besides that, he emphasized the great significance of the human rights education in China and other Asian countries.


 

After the lectures, Prof. Gudmundur answered questions raised by the students, and had a round of interesting discussions with them.
