A lecture on the Writing of the Academic Paper Was Held by Professor Sun Shiyan from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

On April 20th, 2017, Professor Sun Shiyan from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences visited the Institute for Human Rights and gave a lecture on the writing of the academic paper to the students.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Sun introduced three forms of human rights and corresponded them with three key points of human rights law study, which are theory, system and practice. He took the equal right to education, the surrogate births and the poverty alleviation as examples to explain how to reflect those relationships in the process of research to the students. Secondly, Professor Sun talked about the way to choose topics and to collect and make full use of materials. Finally, he emphasized the importance of wide reading, and he suggested that it is helpful for students to read with critical thinking.

After the main content of the lecture, there was a Q&A. Professor Sun talked more about the specific way to find a good topic, the reasonable structure of the paper and the importance of reading English materials during this part.
