Professor Liu Huawen from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was invited to give lectures to the institute


On the morning of November 2, 2017, Professor Liu Huawen of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was invited to visit the Institute for Human Rights of China University of Political Science and Law, bringing a lecture on China and International Human Rights law to the teachers and students. Professor Zhang Wei, Co-director of the Institute, the first-year master students participated to this lecture.


At the beginning of the lecture, he recalled his friendship with the professors in Institute and expressed his great appreciation for the development and achievements of the Institute. He also expressed his fervent hope for the students of the Institute.

 

Professor Liu Huawen's main topics covered in this lecture are: What Is International Law, UN and Human Rights, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, "The Two Covenants on Human Rights" and other core human rights conventions, from the Human Rights Commission to the Human Rights Council, human rights treaty bodies and Chinses international human rights Practice, UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, New Situations and New Trends.

 

Faculty and students were greatly encouraged by this lecture, expanding the new perspective of studying international human rights law from the perspective of international law. The lecture ended in a pleasant atmosphere.
