In accordance with the Regulations on the Cultivation of Academic Master’s Degree Students at China University of Political Science and Law and the Cultivation Program for Human Rights Law Master’s Students (2023 Revision), the mid-term assessment of 2023 master's students and the selection and opening of dissertation topics are hereby arranged as follows:
I. Mid-term Assessment and Proposal Schedule
The School will conduct the mid-term assessment and proposal defense in mid-April, with the specific time and venue to be announced later.
II. Submission of Academic Records
According to the Regulations on the Cultivation of Academic Master’s Degree Students, the mid-term assessment shall be conducted after completing all required coursework and earning the stipulated credits.
1. Academic Internship Assessment Form for Academic Master's Degree Students at China University of Political Science and Law
Submission Deadline: 10:00 – 11:00 AM on March 21
Submission Method: Hard copies submitted to the Office of the Institute for Human Rights; scanned copies sent to the academic affairs email, with the email title "Name + Internship Assessment Form."
Submission Materials: Paper version and scanned copy of the "Internship Assessment Form." The scanned copy can be sent to the academic affairs email. In the "Internship Unit" section of the "Internship Assessment Form," fill in the name of the internship unit + internship start and end dates (e.g., internship unit name + **** year ** month ** day - **** year ** month ** day).
2. Fourth Semester Term Paper
The supervisor should complete the grading and entry of the fourth semester term paper in the graduate management system by 3:00 PM on March 26.
[Note: The deadline for students to submit their term papers in the graduate management system is determined by the supervisor. It is recommended that supervisors establish a deadline as soon as possible and inform students to allow for adequate preparation.]
III. Submission of Mid-term Assessment and Proposal Defense Materials
Submission Deadline: 10:00 – 11:00 AM on April 2
Submission Method: Hard copies to the Office of the Institute for Human Rights; scanned copies to the academic email with the subject line: “2023 Master’s + Name + Mid-term & Proposal”.
Materials Required (All materials must be double-sided):
[Note: Incomplete materials will not be accepted; late submissions will be considered as giving up participation in the mid-term assessment and thesis topic selection.]
1. Mid-term Assessment Form for CUPL Master’s Students (original hard copy and scanned copy with supervisor’s signature and attached transcript).
2. CUPL Graduate Thesis Proposal Report Form (original hard copy and scanned copy with supervisor’s signature).
★ Before submission, make 5 copies of the signed Thesis Proposal Report Form and bring them to the assessment and defense session.
IV. Precautions
1. The mid-term assessment and thesis proposal defense are critical components of graduate education. Supervisors and students must strictly adhere to university and institute regulations to ensure timely and high-quality completion.
2. Students must accurately and thoroughly complete the Mid-term Assessment Form and Thesis Proposal Report Form, submitting them to advisors for review well in advance to allow sufficient processing time.
3. Supervisors must diligently fulfill their supervisory responsibilities, promptly guide students in completing and submitting materials, review academic progress and proposal content, provide revisions/feedback, and ensure compliance with procedural and substantive requirements. Advisors must also provide detailed and accurate comments on forms.
