From May 27 to 28, 2025, the Sino-European Human Rights Education Forum, jointly organized by our institution and the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights at the University of Oslo, Norway, was successfully held at our university's graduate school. The forum, themed "Focusing on Human Rights Education and Looking to Future Cooperation," brought together nearly 40 experts and scholars from China and Europe to engage in in-depth discussions on the current state, challenges, and future development of human rights education.

During the opening ceremony, Vice Dean Lin Hua emphasized the importance of international exchanges in human rights education for the construction of the rule of law and called for the establishment of a human rights education system centered on problem-oriented and practice-oriented approaches. Rita Furuseth Sandberg, Director of the International Department at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, reviewed the achievements of China-Norway cooperation and expressed hopes for further deepening of future collaboration.

In the keynote speeches, Professor Zhang Wei provided a comprehensive overview of the development of human rights education in Chinese universities, while Gentian Zyberi from the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights shared insights from a European perspective on global trends in human rights education, stressing the need to focus on the cultivation of practical skills in the digital age.

During the roundtable discussions, experts and scholars from China and Europe explored the systemic development of human rights education, proposing the integration of local resources to promote international and domestic collaboration, and advocating for interdisciplinary integration and a practice-oriented approach.

The specialized sessions covered a wide range of themes, including human rights in business operations, digital rights, methodologies in human rights education, gender equality and inclusivity, and human rights treaties and mechanisms. These discussions explored innovative approaches to teaching methods and curriculum design, offering valuable experiences for the global development of human rights education.

At the closing ceremony, Associate Professor Yang Bochao and Rita Furuseth Sandberg summarized the outcomes of the forum and expressed their anticipation for further strengthening of Sino-European cooperation in human rights education, with a shared commitment to advancing the sustainable development of global human rights education.

This forum successfully established a mechanism for cooperation and exchange in human rights education between China and Europe, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration, and advancing in-depth cooperation in the field of human rights education between the two regions.
