Seminar:The ratification, Accession and Implementation of UN Core Human Rights Instruments in China---Academic Seminar to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the declaration of human rights

December12, 2015—Institute for Human Right held ”The ratification,Accession and Implementation of UN Core Human Rights Instruments InChina---Academic Seminar to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the declaration of human rights” in Beijing Friendship Hotel.

Prof. BAN Wenzhan, YANG Qinhuo, SUN Meng, XU Shuang of the Institute for Human Rights, other professors from CUPL, and some experts and scholars attended this academic seminar. Furthermore, representatives of outstanding graduates, some master students and Ph.D. students also attended the meeting. The participants carried out extensive and in-depth discussions inChina's ratification, accession and implementation of a number of legal issues of the core United Nations Human Rights Conventions.

 Prof. SUN Meng hosted the meeting, and the opening speech delivered by Prof. YANG QinHuo Yang.

In his opening speech,  Prof. YANG QinHuo introduced the theme of the 2015 World Human Rights Day---“our rights, our freedom, always”. After opening remarks, the seminar started. 

The whole meeting was divided into two phases, the first chaired by Prof. XU Shuang. In the first phase of the agenda, the participants discussed the United Nations human rights treaty bodies, the universal perspectives of the Platform on Sustainable Development, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and some relevant human rights issues.Since then, several outstanding graduates showed their views of the perspective of human rights education, substantive works in practice and the concept ofhuman rights implementation in China. After the keynote speeches, the experts and scholars engaged in a positive discussion stage.

The second phase is chaired by Prof. YANG Qinhuo. In the second phase of the agenda, the guests focused on specific professional issues of human rights law, experts gave speech and made discussion around three core human rights coventions, "International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights", "the International Covenant on economic, Social and cultural Rights" and "Convention on the rights of Persons with disabilities", and put forward a series of research methods and problems of domestic implementation.

At the end of the seminar, Prof. BAN Wen Zhan made aconcluding remarks, the relevant issues were condensed and sublimated.
