Lecture: SEX: how to protect

    On April 13th, at the invitation of Professor Zhang, Mr. Remy Cristini brought a spectacular lecture to the Institute for Human Rights. Mr. Cristini, as the first secretary of the Dutch Embassy in China, has always been highly concerned about human rights.

 

Before the lecture, Mr. Cristini asked everyone's advice. He would like to know more about the needs of the students so that he could better carry out interaction with the students. After consultation with everyone, Mr. Cristini chose the theme: "SEX: how to protect", which contains a lot of contents, such as gender, sexual identity, sexual intercourse, sex workers, sex crimes, sexual offenders, pornography, sex selection, etc.. With a focus on gender and special measures to protect women, Mr. Cristini introduced some active "discriminatory" measures, public settings and gender selection bias. Afterwards, he also explained sexual relevant behaviors in details, including social measures, parents’ recommendations and sexual assaults. Mr. Cristini especially discussed what is the appropriate age of sex education with the students, everyone expressed their own views. The third topic is the addiction, including sexual orientation (homosexuality), anti-discrimination, equal opportunities, same-sex marriage and several other topics. Students enthusiastically discussed the gay human rights protection and some hot topics. Finally, for the topic of sex workers, Mr. Cristini showed students a video to let the students have a better acceptance and understanding.


At the end of the lecture, Mr. Cristini, Prof. Zhang and students took pictures together. All students highly appraised Mr. Cristini’s speach and looked forward to Mr. Cristini coming next time.
