Institute for Human Rights Hosts the First “Advanced Training Course on Improving Skills in Handling Domestic Violence—Related Criminal Cases”

 From April 24th to 25th, 2025, the “Advanced Training Course on Improving Skills in Handling Domestic Violence—Related Criminal Cases”, jointly hosted by our institute and the Shi Liang Law School of Changzhou University, was successfully held at Changzhou University. Thirty legal practitioners from the public security, procuratorial and judicial organs in Changzhou participated.

The course was co-chaired by Professor Liu Xiaonan from our institute and Dean Zhang Jian from the Shi Liang Law School of Changzhou University at the opening ceremony. Dean Zhang introduced the basic situation of the law school and hoped to provide a platform for in-depth learning and communication. Professor Liu introduced the rich experience of the Human Rights Research Institute of China University of Political Science and Law in relevant fields and emphasized the importance of gender equality in handling domestic violence cases.

During the course, Professor Liu lectured on gender equality theory. Judge Song Ying shared experiences in sexual-crime trials. Researcher Li Jing introduced the work of the Gender and Law Research Center. Researcher Chen Min focused on child-related domestic-violence cases. Judge Zheng Qiong talked about fact-finding and evidence review in domestic-violence cases.

After the lectures, the public security, procuratorial and judicial workers had in-depth exchanges with the experts on handling domestic violence cases.
